The Monkey King is surrounded by what could possibly be hundreds of enemies with swords drawn. His first method of defense? To punch the cave wall he’s trapped next to and bring down a rain of stalactites upon his enemies.

He succeeds in hurting his hand.

The beginning of the journey continues! Will our intrepid and mostly crazy heroes survive the deadly confrontation and regain their road west? Or will they be struck down before their time?

When we last left our trio of “heroes,” they were leaving the village of Clearwater. They continue to track their guide West.

On the journey, the trio tell each other tall tales and blatant lies in order to stave off the boredom. Eventually, they reach a crossroads upon a vast plain.

They will travel to the Crab Lands, following the Shadowlands tainted hermit.

Following the closing of the “Case of the Mysteriously Launched Coffee Cans” with the discovery of a playful robot, life resumes at Spring Crescent and Madison Faire mostly unabated.

Emma’s visit to Troy’s nightclub district did not go unreported, so she’s got a meeting with the school counselor. Dr. G is, to put it simply, a very understanding guy.

This session was conducted with a parallel text roleplay, telling a story with Scott and Emma. While not critical to the plot of this session, it adds a nice bit of extra character development.  Those stories can be read here and here.

HELLO EVERYBODY HOW ARE YOU DOING?!  WE ARE DOING GREAT HERE FROM THE CENTER OF THE HURRICANE KNOWN AS NATE’S FAN CONSTANTLY BLOWING IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE RECORDING!

HERE IS NEWS BIRD WITH THE NEWS:

You asked for it, so we gave it to you:  The Drunk and the Ugly Forums!  Now you can jump in and talk to other Drunk and Ugly listeners and troll everyone.

Second News!  Sordid Dystopia:  Still being worked on.  Sam is now working two different jobs and Nate just finished moving into a new house.  Things are still coming along and we are working to give you the best book we possibly can.

Today’s Topic:  Character creation, how does it work?

This is how it works.  Done.

But no, seriously, this is a topic that we manage to cover with a lot of detail and a lot of different methods.  There’s too much discussed in the show to write down here, but I will link all the different resources listed in the program:

  • Fake Name Generator – Probably the most-used tool here on our show for creating names and personalities for PCs and NPCs alike.
  • Gelbooru (NSFW), Safebooru – Both are great repositories of images with pretty good tagging set up in the case that you have a vague image in mind for a character and zero artistic abilities (like myself)
  • Character Hub (Beta) – A filing cabinet for up to 100 characters (presently) with options for portraits, stats, and personality questionnaires for all of your different beautiful and unique snowflakes.
  • Incompetech’s Royalty Free Music Library – Complete works of Kevin MacLeod.  All created under the Creative Commons license, great for Podcasting and anything that needs a royalty-free soundtrack.
