  1. Hooray for pirate themed games, re-watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and now I get this to enjoy as well.

  2. Fun hearing some 7th Sea being played, thought it started out rough with the opening, but things got better.

Two things, i would say is to double check the initiative, you roll Panache for it amd not wits, that way every trait has a combat use.

Second thing doesn’t matter as much, but you aren’t really supposed to be able to actively defend avainst firearms, they are supposedly too fast to dodge. But the roll to hit was so high it didn’t matter, plus i figure if you let everyone try and dodge guns, it gives it a more fun over the top feel, especially on the protagonist side of things.

I look forward to more swashbuckling.

Seperate question i have, if y’all don’t mind sharing, is how did you guys go about character creation, points wise? You have a Montaigne Valroux swordsman, who is also a porte mage, and also has one of the coolest puzzle swords. So in my mind it sounds like a good fun amount of creation points.

    1. Hey, thanks for commenting. You too, Timothy, I see you up there. I don’t recall exactly why I used wits here, but it was probably me misspeaking. It’s been a while since I ran a game of 7th Sea, but I do remember the initiative system, and it should be accurate soon. Same with the gun defense, Matt reminded me of that not too far into the campaign.

As for the character points, I don’t recall the exact number, but the most accurate answer is “not as many as Kevin wanted”. I gave them maybe 10 extra on top of the 110 for base+hubris, but Kevin is a madman and probably would have taken a second swordsman school if I’d given him more. Thanks for the feedback!

      1. You gave us 135 points, thus why Francesca has so many crazy skills and a bunch dumped into her Sorte from the start.

        1. That makes sense. Im with Kevin when i run and play, more hero points lets the character better exemplify the tropes and archtypes they are supposed to portray.

The base 100, means you get you butts kicked easily.

      2. I wouldn’t have taken a second swordsman skill if given more points. The main thing was, I had enough points to start in everything I wanted, but not enough points to be very good at any of it. Still fun all the same. I’m a fan of failure.
