Happiest Waste on Earth Ep 9 – The Survivalist

Monday, 14th March 2011. This is a photo of my old knackered leather jacket. I wore it into uni today and just thought about how long I've had it for now... over two years I believe. I still love it! It was a good day today, I managed to get into uni for a studio meeting and got some good feedback on my work so far. In the afternoon I couldn't bring myself to look at work anymore so I spent the rest of the day chilling and when Kirsty came back from Uni we chatted and I cooked dinner whilst sorting out photos in the evening!

A father opens his eyes. A cold wind of revenge blows. From the Wasteland, a horrifyingly familiar face walks to the gates of the new oasis that the survivors are building.

He claims that his unfinished business waits inside.

  • Zach – Alexandra “Alex” Raine.  A former dweller of Vault 101, raised by robots and unsure whether or not she is a robot herself.  She is learning much about the outside world and what it means to be human.
  • Nate – Vespara “Vespa” Kalin Adimik. Otherwise known as “The Exile” or “The Lady in Black.” A very capable gunfighter with a shady past.
  • Matt – Chris Yao.  A member of a splinter faction of the Followers of the Apocalypse, divided and traveling with this rag-tag band in search of a new home in the wastes.
  • Josh – LANCE-O 107.  A robotic knight from a medieval-themed restaurant and tournament who now rights wrongs across the wastes while on his quest to slay the black king Mordred.

  1. Matt: Unless someone sits down and marathons these… you know for a 36 hour day… that doesn’t exist.

    Challenged Accepted.

    Achievement Unlocked!

These never cease to entertain. loving the depth of the setting, the NPCs and the player characters. Kesmit Park… so good.

    1. Author

Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

Also yes I vastly overestimated how long it would take to listen to all of these.

  2. The Survivalist belongs in Eclipse Phase… The weird iterative competitive self-improvement strategy would seem to be a standard ‘dark secret’ in some of the… weirder parts of the solar system there.

Then again, in the Fallout games you gain universally-usable XP from killing things (less so in the system you’re running, or in Eclipse Phase), especially dangerous things, so that would benefit his plan beyond the selection-pressure level…

    Clones: the ultimate powerleveling.
