Louisiana, 1926. A desperate group of Cajun residents around the small town of Montegut has posted a large reward for any information related to a series of missing persons. The victims were apparently snatched from their homes with little trace.
Enter the rival teams of Castle Investigations and Coen Investigations. The two teams are enigmatic duos of P.I.s, hard-boiled and ready to take on anything. As the session opens, they have high-tailed it to Montegut to crack the case of the missing Cajuns.
What awaits them is a town conspicuously clean, conspicuously uniform, and secretly deadly. Their journey will take them through the town and its secrets, and deep into the bayou, where a greater horror works.
Three young acolytes of the Paladins of Battle, zealous disciples of Ezekiel, have finished their four-and-a-half month grueling training and brain-washing period and are being dispatched on their first mission.
They are tasked with finding and rooting out a “corruption of the soul” in the small village of Kassier. They find that the populace has fallen under an illness, and a strangely dressed merchant who has a persuasive tongue.
What the three don’t realize is that they have entered the domain of something truly horrible.
Delta City, Colorado. An abandoned ghost mining town in the hinterlands, it has recently become the subject of interest of the ghost investigators of GEIST (Ghost Enthusiasts Investigators and Science Team), a paranormal enthusiast cable television show.
The team consists of Anthony Brown: an oblivious department store worker who turned to GEIST for easy money and travel, David Santiago: a former investigative journalist in Detroit who had once been attached to a medic battalion in Iraq, and Nicky Hatch, a protective woman who joined GEIST to see if dogs can find ghosts. Along with their trusty cameraman, the team has set out to collect ghost readings, record abandoned houses at night and shout “Oh my god there are ghosts here” after every odd noise.
The team is sure that their only problem will be pretending to be sincere about paranormal activities.
The love triangle is in full bloom. Scott and Emma are going on a date to the movies (even if they both swear it’s not a date) tonight. After a series of hijinks at the house, (including Scott having to defend his woman from a weird mouth-breather, and the gang bathing Scott) they’re off into the city.
Back at the house, Manny gets a phone call, and August begins experiencing some odd visitations. There’s someone who has a great deal of interest in him. Oh, what a tangled web we weave. . .
Middle-schoolers Tommy Clarke and Regina Kai are headed into school in the rural suburban town of Mount Pleasant, North Dakota, on the last day of school before Winter Break. Everything starts normally, until the entrance hall of their school becomes an endless hallway full of unmarked doors.
Tommy and Regina have been plunged into the heart of a nightmare. Their only hope is to unravel the mystery before it consumes them forever.
