A major windfall comes for the crew of the Brilliant Resolve.  In the encounters on her SOS response, Faydra has ended up with the Irradial Cogitator known as “Dead Heat.”  She now has it back on her ship and at her mercy for questioning and buckled down to a seat in a makeshift brig.  They find that he constructed the new megaweapon for The Schismaticus Collective on commission, with no particular ties to the organization.  In asking for help on how to destroy his creation, Dead Heat suggests that it may be far less simple than Faydra hoped.

Never has so much work gone into getting back what rightfully belongs to Faydra Ramirez.  In her quest to retrieve one of her family’s heirloom planets, she has been run through the warp multiple times from planet to planet doing favors for the planet’s current “owner.”  The Brilliant Resolve is now in pursuit of an SOS signal from a mechanicus on another planet claiming to also be part of The Schismaticus Collective.  If Faydra and her crew help them take back their own part of this space and keep out the warring factions, she’ll be party some answers finally.

Getting a planet back has turned out to be much more difficult than Faydra Ramirez expected.  In their search of a distant planet, the captain and crew of the Brilliant Resolve are finding themselves deep in ruins surrounded by odd mechanical beetles.  They appear to be odd carrion feeders of both flesh and cybernetics.  Mysteries of the ancient ruins deepen.

In the year 40,000, all is war.  The Koronus Expanse is under attack from all angles by beings that want to destroy all organic matter from the system out of a need for sustenance or merely from spite.  Under such assault, the Imperium of Man cannot adequately meet all threats and thus contracts work out to Rogue Traders.  In the inside edge of the Expanse, we find one such trader, Faydra Ramirez, standing trial for the crime of Imperial Heresy.

After a swift motion to an acquittal of Imperial Heresy but a conviction for smaller heretical acts, Ramirez finds herself one planet poorer, at great loss to the family fortune.  A silver lining appears to Faydra and the crew of the castle-like Brilliant Resolve, when the new owner of the planet contacts her and says she may have it back if she does him one small favor. . .
