The Summer Road Trip continues, now with more Cool Rat! An evil queen was killed, and now the gang is hitting the beach. Things will calm down, if they have anything to say about it. (Hint: they don’t. )

Because the cult is still in motion. And the postcards are still pointing in strange directions. From the beaches of Florida, they must trek north to New England, where strife is in full sway on a country farm.

Continuing with the longest Sunday ever, Manny’s got tickets to ride. Five tickets, to be specific, to ride a bus to the backstage of the craziest concert ever.

Infernal Banshee’s in town, and they’re about to rock Troy’s face off. Unfortunately, they’re missing their lead guitarist/front man/Duke of Too-Cool-For-School: Uncle V.

Can the kids get the show to go on, or will the Power of ROCK fail?

The cast and crew of the runaway train is back for more action! The port town of Al Lagosa is (remarkably) still standing. Rave has been contracted for his first Mercenary Solo mission. (It’s probably not janitorial work).

Joined by a young Umbra, flung far from her home in search of human societies’ secrets, Rave will be sent into the dark reached of New Xexoria.

Zach – Arraveous “Rave” Varren. A green-haired, suit-wearing, sunglass-sporting, gunslinging mercenary. Perhaps not as cool as he thinks he is.
Nate – Gann Endri. A young mainland Umbra who left her village as an explorer. Gann Endri has been exploring the bearable edges of the southern wastes of New Xexoria for awhile, and has been intensely curious about human society.

Hello there, internet! You thought there was no news BUT GUESS WHAT WE GOT MORE NEWS!

First item to report is that Sordid Dystopia is coming along splendidly. Our gracious master editor Sam has created the master page templates for the published version and has more than half-finished the present manuscript. Our herculean exemplar of a writer is taking your comments from the playtests and writing the rest of the game as needed. Or as it comes to him. The world may never know.

Additionally, we’ve been lucky to start receiving fanart from some awesome people: Chris and The Blind Artist. Chris’s stuff can be found here, and The Blind Artist’s stuff can be found here. You can also check it out on our wiki page for incredibly high-resolution everything.

We cover an actual topic in this show as well: The GM Voice, and approximately how to use it to create atmosphere in horror and drama. I say “approximately” because there’s no real formula to this practice. We can only explain the phenomenon anecdotally.

The strange treasure hunt continues! The gang, having survived their experience in the junkyard, are off to pay a visit to Rebecca Black.

In the meantime, August is contacted by the High School’s Janitor-Sorcerer, Cecil. The cryptic information broker takes him out to get pizza, and makes him a deal. He’ll help August get rid of Buibui, if August tracks down a certain redheaded Irish boy.

It seems like a solid deal, until it quickly becomes clear that Brendan is linked to some very scary stuff. Shadows lurk in his past.

Little Fears – The Fall Harvest

Welcome one, welcome all, to the Polk County Annual Harvest Festival! We’ve strung up the lights, pitched the tents, and set the carnival rides whirling.

It’s the beginning of Autumn. The apples are red and ripe and the dough is all fried. The first winds of Fall are blowing.

But beneath the merriment and festivities, just underneath the good smells drifting on the late August wind, there is something foul.

Seeds have been planted. Harvest, and the time of reap, comes soon.

PLAYERS

Manda – Gwen Martin. A tiny, blond, 9-year-old girl who recently lost her two front teeth. Her mommy who works at the zoo and teaches her everything about animals. She keeps a stuffed lion named Mace with her at all times because her mommy said that mace kept her safe in her college days.
Matt – Sophie Little. A 11-year-old girl who has long black hair with purple streaks in it. She does all of her shopping at Immortal Fashions and buys all of her clothes from there. Her favorite clothing item is her Edward Cullen t-shirt, which is inseparable from. Not quite as inseparable as from her boyfriend Clyde, though.
Nate – Clyde Campbell. An athletic 12-year boy with messy black hair that can’t be tamed. That is, if he cared enough to try and tame it. Clyde could be defined as a “proto-bro” or “bro magnon.” A bro in its infancy, as it were, destined for great bro-ness.

The treasure hunt led the kids all over the city, and then back home as the sun began to fade on the horizon. They’ve got a lead – Rebecca Black, the reporter. But before they can track it down, the kids are locked inside Frieda’s for the night.

Their new friend, Tim Rodgers, has some things to reveal to them. And the next day, a side trip to the strangest junkyard in America must be made.

It’s Monsters Friday again, bringing you an oldie from the early days of The Drunk and the Ugly, through a ransom event with RPPR’s own Ross Payton. It through these games that we ended up bringing in Sam and Charlie eventually.

In this adventure, following their victory over the Ur-Monster in the summer road trip, the daring Jimmy McPherson and Roy Ackerman receive an invitation to visit Cal Novelties, a wonderful toy factory whose owner has just passed and named them the successors to his toy throne, allowing them to become testers and designers.

PLAYERS

Bob (DracoStrife) – Jimmy McPherson. Little 10-year-old person of becoming a famous comic book artist. Comes up with brilliant plans and not-so-great execution.
Chris (Wooberman) – Mr. Smacky. Mixed Martial Artist from hell, literally. Has a giant orange body made completely from muscle. Both hands are big red boxing gloves and wears matching Boxing Gloves. Simple minded and fairly kind-hearted.
Charlie – Roy Ackerson. A wealthy boy born to a rich family whose parents were lost in a tragic train crash. One night a bat flew in his window and he knew at that point that he had to become a necromancer to resurrect them.
Matt – Nanaho Yoneda. A kindly old Japanese ghost summoned accidentally by Roy when he tried to bring his parents back from the dead. Very quiet and shy and acts as Roy’s protector whenever possible. Sometimes she gets angry.

Mrs Frieda’s Session 30 – You Can’t Text on a Knife

It’s Saturday, and the kids finally have a day to themselves. School is HARD. Of course, a free day can’t go without an adventure…

This one begins with a text message, and a beaten up coffee can. Inside, riches, and a note. This discovery will begin a treasure hunt that will crisscross Troy and lead the kids back into their own history.

Someone, it seems, has been paying particularly close attention to what they’ve been doing this summer. It’s up to the kids to track down the mystery before whatever’s behind it decides to stop playing games.

A town lies choked beneath the dust of mining, deceit, and corruption. One man stands above it: the good Reverend Robert Hodgins. Friend to all, recovered convict, man of God: he is generous, earnest, hard-working, and the town’s last hope to overcome ruin.

Naturally, he’s gotta die.

Matt – Rex Marriage. Debtor, drunk, and former apprentice to Hephaestus Jones, forced to sell his daughter to the town reverend.
Manda – Sam Marriage. The daughter of Rex Marriage, sold to Reverend Bob Hodgins, and only person in town not looking to murder him.
James – Pastor Sumon Kuvalente. Pastor, hired gun, and master of disguise. Hired by everyone in town to kill the one and only Bob Hodgins.
Kevin – Reverend Bob Hodgins. Former convict and co-conspirator to murder of Hephaestus Jones
Nate – Rudolph Sauerbrey. Former convict and co-conspirator to murder of Hephaestus Jones
